Today’s take FIVE.. the next chapter
We have all been on this journey together. 2020 marks year eleven for this dream team!
4015 days together, 12,012 meals eaten, 55 collective birthdays, 22 months of summer holidays, 11 Christmas dinners, 3 countries with endless kilometers covered, and 5 unique minds and personalities means life is big, bold and for the brave with these five. Just to name a few!
They’ve grown! And I’ve got the grey hair and sleepless nights to prove it! 2020 marks the beginning of a new beginning within our story. 2020 is the year of freedom. Our freedom! The year each one of these kids will begin to love and live their best lives. 2020 is the year of big changes for us. 2020 is the year we begin to take our lives back. To continue to heal from the past. 2020 is the year we finally get to start living a life these five have never known.
A life with support, encouragement and acknowledgment. Why? You ask... well 2009- 2019 was a war zone for me. Fighting harder than I ever knew I could for these guys. A fight to be heard. A fight for FIVE. I prayed for a decade most days not fully believing it may ever come. A fight that was silenced by many who told me to give up, give in or quit.
I refused.
Still We pressed on. I pushed. I fought for them. I never gave up ... if for no other reason than the faces you see here. These guys are worth everything! Even when it means ... Loosing everything, loosing the life we knew, loosing my own future life I planned for, loosing a home, loosing family... we all lost big... for a very long time. Most of that loss has no earthly price tag.
But like all storms ... eventually they calm. The sun slowly starts to take back the dark skies. When the storm begin to ends a strange feeling comes. It’s called peace. Peace is the balm that lets us all know that no matter what we made it though the storm and now it’s time to really shine. Peace arrives to let us know that all is going to be ok!
Thank you to all of you who have joined our story, who take the time to read and engage. These kids are going to do great things. All greatness takes is one person to believe in you when the world seems against you. Be the person who believes in someone no matter the odds!
